The court of special judge, Harreet Kaur Kaleke, had convicted Balwinder Singh who was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) on August 5, 2018, with 270 grams of heroin.
The committee had also demanded that a probe be conducted before the model code of conduct comes into force in the state due to the upcoming state assembly elections.
The police officials said that the accused was coming to supply the opium to his clients but was arrested by the police.
According to the police, the accused was identified as one Vinod Kumar, a resident of Ambala. Investigators said Vinod will be arrested soon.
In Mohali city, development works worth Rs 25 Crore were also inaugurated and the inauguration of new bus stand will also be done in the coming few days.
A mobile-based application will be created to collect the geo-tagging information of houses and other details along with the source code and documents.
The victims, said to be of a family from Mohali, are yet to be identified. The accident happened when the drive of a Maruti Ertiga car lost control of the vehicle.
The accused had also disclosed during the interrogation that they used to get the tablets from Shamli in UP at cheaper rates supplied in Mohali district.
Investigators said that a probe has been launched and they were 'close' to identifying the gang behind the vehicle thefts.
The incident, police said, took place at Airport Chowk, with neither of the accused being identified yet.
The court had also observed that the investigation was going on and the applicant is an influential person who may try to interfere with the investigation. Khaira’s bail application had been dismissed by the special ED court on December 7.
