Kangana Ranaut hints at Hrithik Roshan feud as she remembers ‘controversial legal notice’ from 2016; calls the year a ‘living hell’

Recalling how the legal notice led to the Bollywood nepotism debate and how the industry got divided between insiders and outsiders, she wrote, “I became the highest paid actress but then in the January of 2016 one of my colleagues sent me that controversial legal notice which shook and divided the industry in to insiders and outsiders. Success became poisonous and life became a living hell.”

She added, “Sides were taken and many more legal battles followed. Ten years ago had I known in 2026 I will be eating carbs in all my meals, will be laughing a lot and none of the 2016 drama would mean anything to anyone few years down the line, honestly I would have not been so miserable back then. Thank God it’s not 2016 and we are in 2026 ♥️”

What happened between Hrithik and Kangana in 2016?

In 2016, Kangana had referred to Hrithik Roshan as a ‘silly ex’. She told Pinkvilla, “I don’t know why exes do silly things to get your attention. For me that chapter is over and I don’t dig graves.”

Hrithik then put out a tweet, stating that he was never in a relationship with Kangana. He wrote, “Ther r more chances of me having had an affair with d Pope dan any of d (Im sure wonderful)women d media hs ben naming.Thanks but no thanks.”

Following this, the Koi Mil Gaya actor sent a legal notice to Kangana Ranaut, asking her to apologise for her remark and clarify their alleged affair. The duo were rumoured to have started dating during the shooting of the 2013 film Krrish 3. A year after the film’s release, Hrithik had parted ways with his wife Sussanne Khan.

This was followed by Kangana sending a counter-notice to Hrithik. The legal battle then prolonged, with their emails being leaked, cybercrime complaints being filed, and forensic investigations taking place. The legal battle ended after Mumbai Police cyber crime unit submitted a “NIL report”.

On the work front, Kangana will next be seen in Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata. She is also in talks for two highly anticipated sequels — Queen 2 and Tanu Weds Manu 3 — which are expected to go on floors in early 2026.
