Zomato delivery partner killed after being hit by speeding car

Police identified the deceased as one Lovepreet, who hailed from Pehwa in Kurukshetra district in Haryana and was presently living in Haryana's Sohana. Lovepreet, police said, was at present working for Zomato.

Last year a total of 3,500 dengue cases were reported in the district along with 36 fatalities. Last year, most number of cases were reported from Phase V, Phase VI, Phase IV, Mohali village and Phase 3B2. (File)

District on alert: Mohali reports its first suspected dengue death

A total of 16 positive dengue cases were reported on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 211. Meanwhile, the health department collected 4,603 samples across the district and surveyed 3,392 households.

Mohali police on Saturday arrested a man identified as Manpreet Singh alias Mani and recovered 11 pistols from him along with a luxury BMW car. The accused had revealed during interrogation that he was in touch with Bhagwanpuria. The police wanted to confront both.

Acting on the complaint, Lalru police booked Surinder Singh, his mother, brother and uncle under Sections 376 (2)(n) (whoever commits rape repeatedly on the same woman) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A police officer, requesting anonymity, said that the accused were selling the tablets near Kurali, Mohali and Mullanpur Garibdas, after taking it from other states at cheaper rates.

The accused were coming towards Dhakoli in a Maruti Ciaz car when they were stopped by the police and on checking the narcotics were found in their vehicle.
