Vijay Hazare Trophy Highlights: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma tons guide Delhi and Mumbai to victory

Virat Kohli brings up his century with a boundary. Not much of a celebration. Just raises his bat to the dressing room. And shouts, “not much to celebrate.” Now he is asking Rishabh Pant to come in.

The runs continue coming at a breeze, Rohit goes up to 150 in 91 balls, before departing shortly afterwards. He was caught behind trying to cut a wide-ish ball from pacer Kranthi Kumar. The crowd breaks into chants, on their feet to give him a big reception after his 93-ball 155. The police personnel make a beeline to surround the dressing room as he walks off the pitch.

Rohit's century was reeled off within 62 balls, at a rate that signifies his mastery of pacing in the 50-over format. It included eight sixes, hit all over the ground to both pace and spin. Rohit wasn't keen to celebrate much, but sheepishly raised his bat to acknowledge the thousands that have turned up to watch him bat, who were as loud as ever.

Meanwhile, Kohli is going slow, strictly on a comparitive basis that is considering the kind of fireworks that have gone off the bat of Rohit and a few other batters in other parts of the country today. "Kohli brings up his fifty off 39 balls. He gets there with a boundary off seamer KSN Raju," reports Venkata Krishna B from Bengaluru.

The former India captain has brought it up in just 28 balls. Rohit has smashed seven fours and four sixes thus far and his strike rate is going close to 180. Wowza!

The one stand that the state association had left open has not been enough, they have opened three more and a conservative estimate would have the number of spectators at over 10,000. Only days after powering Jharkhand to their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy win and earning an India recall, Ishan Kishan clubbed one of the fastest-ever centuries by an Indian in the List A format against Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Wednesday.

Sliding down from his usual top-order role in the 50-over format, Kishan walked in at number six at the end of the 38th over and stormed his way through to a sensational century at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Kishan clubbed 14 sixes and cracked a century in only 33 balls as Jharkhand racked up a staggering 412 for nine in 50 overs. Read more HERE.

Delhi have to chase down a target of 299 to win this match, which means a typically big contribution from their superstar No.3 would be more than welcome. Andhra have finished on a score of 298/8. As stated earlier, Ricky Bhui was the standout with a score of 122 in 105 balls.

Bihar record the highest-ever men's List A total, a jaw-dropping 574/6, surpassing Tamil Nadu's 506/2 from three years ago against the same opposition - Arunachal Pradesh.

Sikkim have gone past 200 and, as stated before, showing some real mettle with the bat against the might of Mumbai. They score reads 220/6 in 47 overs, with wicketkeeper Ashish Thapa setting up a highest score for them of 79 in 87 balls. Mumbai captain Shardul Thakur is the only bowler with two wickets so far, with Tushar Deshpande, Tanush Kotian, Shams Mulani and Musheer Khan all taking a solitary wicket.

Well, Arunachal have managed to dismiss Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the 25th over. The opener smashed 190 runs in 84 balls by then and one can only imagine where he would've gone and what he would've achieved today if he was allowed to stay out there for even about half an hour more today.

Sikkim have made a good account of themselves thus far, getting to a score of 89/2 in 20 overs. Fans, though, aren't too interested in the proceedings. There are quite a few videos doing the rounds of social media now from the match in Jaipur.

Although fans are not allowed to watch Delhi’s game at the BCCI Centre of Excellence there is strong police presence outside the ground. Even the odd fan who tried to have a glimpse by climbing the perimeter wall being asked to leave by the police. Some of them have got lucky at one part of the ground though. Kohli has been stationed at point throughout and has been chirpy all morning… so is Rishabh Pant behind the stumps.

Nothing to note so far from Sikkim's early batting, not that anyone is here to see how Tushar Deshpande and Shardul Thakur fare with the new ball. Their early spells have been muted out by chants of 'Rohit, Rohit'. The 38-year-old star, constantly chirping in the slips with Sarfaraz Khan, is having to acknowledge the crowd and calm them down every time the ends change.

Andhra have scored four runs in the first two overs, with Navdeep Saini and Ishant Sharma opening the bowling for Delhi. KS Bharat and Ashwin Hebbar are the opening batters for Andhra.

Delhi have won the toss and elected to field against Andhra at the BCCI COE Ground 2. Meanwhile, Sikkim have won the toss in Jaipur against Mumbai and chosen to bat first. Which means both Kohli and Rohit are batting second today.

Virat Kohli's first Vijay Hazare Trophy match since 2010, Rohit Sharma's first since 2018. Other stars who are set to play include the likes of India's ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and so on. And yet, you won't be seeing any of them on television. Broadcast facilities have been provided only in Rajkot and Ahmedabad whereas matches featuring Rohit and Kohli will be in Jaipur and Bengaluru respectively.
