Kota: Four bodies were recovered on Tuesday from the rubble of a partially-constructed bridge which gave way over Chambal river here,raising the death toll to 35. Additional District Magistrate P C Pavan said 12 were still missing and believed to be trapped under the debris. Three of the four bodies were identified as those of Puna Dev 23,Buddishewar Mandal 43,both from Bengal,and Mukesh 29 from Jharkhand.

BJP to protest Saghir Ahmed report

Jammu: Criticising Justice Retd Saghir Ahmeds report on Centre-state relations,the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the BJP on Tuesday said it would launch a series of agitation in Jammu against the recommendations. BJP legislator party Chaman Lal Gupta said the party leaders will sit on a dharna on Wednesday outside the Raj Bhawan here. It will be followed by protests at mandal levels where party activists will burn the copies of the report.

NC leader buried in avalanche

Jammu: A block-level leader of National Conference,Nazir Ahmed Sheikh,was buried in an avalanche in Afti-Wadwan area of Kishtwar district on Monday evening,official sources said on Tuesday. A team has rushed to the spot to launch rescue operations,Superintendent of Police,Kishtwar,Haseeb Mughal,said.

Two persons die of cold wave in UP

Lucknow: Twenty-year-old Babloo Chauhan died in Nemhara area on Monday and another person,Shivpujan 50,died in Bhudkuda village of Ghazipur district due to intense cold,taking the total toll in Uttar Pradesh to 12.

New Year trains on Kalka-Shimla route

Shimla: Owing to heavy rush of tourists visiting the Queen of Hills to celebrate New Year,the Railways has started four special trains on the 96-km Kalka-Shimla line till December 31,Station Superintendent,Shimla,J S Rajput said. The trains are in addition to the five daily trains between Shimla and Kalka.

4 undertrials escape from jail

Hisar: Four undertrials escaped from the Borstal jail on Tuesday,the police said. The undertrials cut the grills of the barrack with iron blade and escaped,they said. They have been identified as Khatu,facing rape charge,Rajan,facing charges under NDPS Act,Mandeep and Navdeep,facing murder and kidnapping charges respectively.

Actor Raghubir Yadav missing

Mumbai: Actor Raghubir Yadav has gone missing,according to the Mumbai Police,which has submitted a report to a local court stating they were not able to locate Yadav for the past two months. The Bandra family court had on September 19 issued a warrant against the actor for failing to appear before the court despite summons sent to him. Yadav was dragged to the court by his wife Purnima seeking maintenance.

Man pushes 14-yr-old girlfriend off train

Jajpur Orissa: A pregnant 14-year-old girl sustained multiple fractures when her lover allegedly pushed her from a running train in Orissa,the

police said on Tuesday. People found the girl between Garhmadhupur and Haridhaspur stations in Jajpur district. The doctor attending her said she was out of danger. Rushi Behera 25 of Bankiabali village in Puri had an affair with the victim of the same village under Balugaon police station.

People escape injury as train jumps signal

Kolkata: Participants in a religious procession had a narrow escape on Tuesday when a local train jumped signal at Hridaypur station in Eastern Railways Dum Dum-Barasat section. Sources said the incident occurred around 1.08 pm when Sealdah-bound BB-526 local train started moving at Hridaypur and jumped signal and the level crossing gate at the end of the platform. supply of narcotics to people participating in the New Year celebrations. We have written a letter to pubs and five star hotels in Juhu warning them not to provide narcotics to youth,on New Years eve, Sena leader Jitendra Janavale said. Sena would also be deploying its men near such places.

80 kg explosives seized in Jharkhand

Latehar Jharkahnd: The police seized around 80 kg of explosives near a culvert in Latehar district on Tuesday,the police said. SP Kuldip Singh said a police patrol party found the explosives near the culvert at DuMohan during routine patrolling. The explosives have been defused,he added.

Iranian woman held with fake notes

Chennai: An Iranian woman was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly trying to exchange fake currency notes at a mall here,the police said. Mortazavi Asraf,62,was held after a retailer from whom she bought some clothes informed the police. Notes with a face value of Rs 23,000 were reportedly found on her.
