ERATTUPETTA, March 25: Reigning National champions beat Andhra Pradesh 15-4, 15-9, 15-4 to enter the main phase of the National Volleyball League here today.

Kerala, strengthened by the inclusion of Pillai and Anwar, who joined the team today after the All India Electricity Board tourney in Jabalpur, were in sparkling form. International Raj Vinod and Binu Jose executed telling smashes. B Anil set well for the duo as the hosts took the first game in 20 minutes.

After conceding a 4-point lead in the next game, Kerala rallied through Vinod and Roby. Tomy8217;s deceptive placements and Anil8217;s dependable setting helped Kerala gain a 10-7 lead and the game in 20 minutes.

Kerala raced to a 6-0 lead in the decider and as Andhra muffed their serves the hosts widened their lead to 10-1. This game lasted 22 minutes. AP, with three defeats, are out of the championship.

Earlier, Services scored their second win in as many matches as they routed West Bengal 15-9, 15-10, 15-10, today. With this win they have virtuallyassured for themselves a place in the main league.

Following the absence of Maharashtra, the women8217;s section is a 3-team affair. As a result, the match between Kerala and Indian Railways tomorrow will decide the winner.
