NASHIK, DEC 8: The Principal of the Bhonsala Military College, Dr W N Bhende, announced the formation of an eight-member committee on Saturday to look into the allegations of a First Year Bachelor of Science student, Shridhar Mukund Kulkarni, that he was ragged.

Dr Bhende said the committee, headed by college vice-principal Dr U Y Kulkarni, would include four members of the Local Managing Committee, Dr V V Raje, Dr J A Khan, S D Joshi and P D Mohite, a student representative Amit Tanksale, hostel rector S D Kulkarni, and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad representative, Dr Ramesh Varkhede. Shridhar8217;s parents and the three students, who allegedly forced insecticide down his throat, would be special invitees on the panel.

The committee will reveal its findings before December 20, after which the institution will decide on the next course of action. Shridhar8217;s brother Raghunath said that he was convinced about the truth of Shridhar8217;s allegation. However, he said he would not file a police complaint but would trust the committee formed by the principal. He added that Dr Bhende had offered to file a police complaint on the very next day, but Shridhar was not willing to disclose the names of the accused.

Meanwhile, Dr Suresh Vyawhare, who treated Shridhar on December 29, said he had treated Shridhar for diarrhoea. Shridhar, he said, was pale and weak and was shivering when he visited his clinic. Dr Vyawhare neither admitted nor denied the possibility of Shridhar being poisoned.
