Pointing at sharp increase in defence spending by China,Defence Minister A K Antony has told top Army commanders that India will continue to increase its capabilities along the border areas. In his address at the Army Commanders Conference,which commenced here on Monday,Antony said the government was committed to bolstering infrastructure in border regions with China.
Speaking on the modernistaion of the armed forces,he said the government would continue to improve and fine-tune procedures to ensure that modernisation goals of the Army were met in an acceptable time-frame. Speaking in the backdrop of the CBI probe into a charge by Army Chief General V K Singh that he was offered bribe on behalf of a truck manufacturer,Antony said his ministry would take strict action against any wrongdoing.
