Orange fest in December

NAGPUR, NOV 28: The Vidarbha Economic Development Council has announced that it will organise an oranges8217; competition on December 2 and a Santra mahotsav here on December 7. The mahotasav will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Food Processing D K Ray.

Addressing a press conference, VED Secretary Vilas Kale said it is an effort to popularise the competition and to make the Santra mahotsav an annual event. Two awards, Santra Vibhushan with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and Santra shree with a cash prize of Rs 5,000, will be awarded to the top entries. Five consolation prizes of Rs 1,000 each will also be given.

The judges will visit orange fields besides conducting tests to judge the entries. Each participant will have to submit the application with at least 24 oranges on December 2. The awards will be presented on December 7.
