CHANDIGARH, JAN 14: A memorial in the memory of the former Prime Minister Gulzari Lal Nanda is proposed to be erected at Kurukshetra. The memorial would be constructed in a four acre area adjacent to the sacred Brahm sarovar and will also house a library and research complex.

The project is expected to cost Rs 3.5 crore and the Haryana Government has proposed to spend a crore of rupees for the project. The research wing would specialise in studies in labour relations, rural planning, Gandhian thought and corruption-free polity. It will also have a memorial hall depicting the life and times of the late leader.

This was stated by the Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal today at the meeting of the National committee constituted to celebrate the birth centenary of the late Prime Minister. The meeting was presided over by the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee.

The Haryana Chief Minister indicated that the memorial would be conceived in the traditional Indian architectural style. Bansi lal urged that the concluding function of the centenary celebrations of the late Gulzari Lal Nanda should be held at Kurukshetra on July 4.
