SHARJAH, January 23: International Master Sudhakar Babu of India defeated Hamid Qaddi of Yemen and drew with Hisham Ali Ahmed of Egypt in the fifth and sixth games to earn 4.5 points.

He now is a point behind leader Grandmaster Elmar Mageramov of Azerbaijan in the Ramadan Arab Capital chess championship here last night.

Babu shares the third spot with Emad Abdul Nabi, Taleb Moussa Andkhaled Ahmed of Egypt.
