Amazon Prime India’s Made in Heaven revolves around wedding planners Tara (Sobhita Dhulipala) and Karan (Arjun Mathur) as they solved one crisis after another for their clients, but were also surrounded by their own life’s problems. Created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, the second season of the show has already been announced.

20:27 (IST)10 May 2020
Lore: Amazon Prime Video

An Amazon Original, Lore is based on a podcast of the same name. Every episode of the show tells the origins of a horror story and although it is more of a documentary than drama, it is a slickly produced show that is engaging enough for a binge. You might want to check out the podcast as well. It is sublime.

19:59 (IST)10 May 2020
You've Got Mail: Hotstar

The Nora Ephron directorial is a winsome movie that perfectly encapsulates the angst of being in love with someone you think you can never be with. However, despite all the obstacles, love ultimately wins, as it always does in case of romantic comedies.

19:34 (IST)10 May 2020
Penny Dreadful: The City of Angels: Disney+ Hotstar

While the sunny Los Angeles is not as compelling a setting for horror as the dank streets of Victorian London, The City of Angels, Showtime horror series Penny Dreadful's spinoff, is surprisingly good, with a nice amalgam of contemporary social issues and the supernatural.

19:17 (IST)10 May 2020
Sacred Games: Netflix

Starring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, this Netflix show helped India become a global force in the web series space. While the first season drew in viewers who praised all aspects of the show, the second season attracted some criticism. It is yet to be known if the show will come back for a third season since the second season ended on a cliffhanger.

18:50 (IST)10 May 2020
The Big Sick: Amazon Prime Video

A low budget film that tells the story of screenwriter Emily V Gordon and her husband and comedian Kumail Nanjiani, who have also written the story together. This is a no-holds-barred story that does not gloss over anything a relationship is - messy, sometimes infuriating and perplexing, but beautiful and worth it nonetheless.

18:27 (IST)10 May 2020
Kota Factory: Youtube

Termed as one of the best Indian web shows, Kota Factory is set in the student city of Kota. Here, we follow 16-year-old Vaibhav, who is preparing for his IIT exams. Unlike many shows where young adults find the path to success restricting, this show celebrates student life in all its educational glory.

17:42 (IST)10 May 2020
Bad Education: Disney+ Hotstar

Hugh Jackman and Allison Janney play the roles of school superintendent Dr Frank A Tassone and district official Pamela Gluckin, respectively. The two are accused of embezzlement of hundreds of thousands of dollars from district funds. Their job is to bury the accusation and keep it from going public.

16:30 (IST)10 May 2020
Band of Brothers: Disney+ Hotstar

This HBO miniseries is executively produced by two giants of American cinema, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who bring their experience of Saving Private Ryan to Band of Brothers, which is an exquisite and sensitive portrayal of a company of soldiers.

16:10 (IST)10 May 2020
Malgudi Days: Amazon Prime Video

The classic Doordarshan TV series based on RK Narayan's charming small-town based stories still holds up well. Relive your childhood (if you watched Malgudi Days as a child, that is) with this series.

15:33 (IST)10 May 2020
The Lego Batman Movie: Netflix and Disney Hotstar

This Batman movie is the most Batman-esque movie. In fact, if you see only this movie, you will have a pretty good idea as to what the superhero is all about. Will Arnett's superbly written and voiced Caped Crusader is as much a tribute as a parody of every live-action version of Batman. And it is downright nuts. Voldemort and Sauron are two of the villains that the Joker recruits to take down Batman, for crying out loud, and that is not the craziest thing in this movie. Zach Galifianakis, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson and Ralph Fiennes are also part of the film's voice cast.

15:13 (IST)10 May 2020
Gotham: Netflix

A DC TV show that embraced the crazy after tip-toeing around it for a couple of seasons. And it is live-action. There is few things off-limits or too insane for this show. It may not have Batman (Bruce Wayne is a young boy in the show) but it has every single member of Batman's rogues gallery, and this was just as good.

14:52 (IST)10 May 2020
The Night Manager: Amazon Prime Video

Based on the 1993 novel of the same name by John le Carré, this miniseries has two of the best actors on television: Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston. It is a espionage drama and is engaging throughout its run.

14:21 (IST)10 May 2020
Curb Your Enthusiasm: Disney+ Hotstar

It is a pity that one of the best sitcoms on television is not as publicised as others. Curb Your Enthusiasm is an out-and-out Larry David show, who is the writer behind probably the greatest sitcoms of all time, Seinfield. He plays his own fictionalised version in this show. This show delivers more laughs in one episodes than a popular sitcom like The Big Bang Theory would in an entire season.

13:45 (IST)10 May 2020
Train to Busan: Netflix

Your definitive zombie movie. In this South Korean film, zombies do not hobble, they run like Usain Bolt and possess the stamina of a racehorse. Cramped confines of a train do wonders and well-drawn characters are pretty relatable. The pacing is just right. Bottom line is, if you love zombie movies, you cannot really go wrong with this one.

13:19 (IST)10 May 2020
Tolkien: Disney Hotstar

Tolkien is a biopic about the early life of English professor J. R. R. Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The film stars Nicholas Hoult, Lily Collins, Colm Meaney, and Derek Jacobi.

12:51 (IST)10 May 2020
Jumanji: The Next Level: Amazon Prime Video

The third film in the Jumanji franchise, Jumanji: The Next Level, is now available on Amazon Prime Video. The franchise is based on a sort of game (a board game in the original and a video-game in the followup) that has real-world consequences or it houses withing itself an alternate reality where the players do not play as their in-game characters, but become them. The Jake Kasdan directorial had Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser'Darius Blain, and Madison Iseman returning from the previous film. Awkwafina, Danny Glover and Danny DeVito joinined the franchise.

20:34 (IST)09 May 2020
Black Sails: Netflix

There are few good shows on pirates, and Black Sails sits pretty on the top. Although the first season was marred by more talking than action, Black Sails picks up from second, gets better in third, and goes out with a bang with its fourth and final season. The story is the prequel of Treasure Island, classic adventure book by Robert Louis Stevenson.

20:12 (IST)09 May 2020
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency: Netflix

This one is among the weirder and eccentric shows. Frodo of Lord of the Rings movies, Elijah Wood, plays an everyman whose life is turned into a veritable whirlwind a flamboyantly British "holistic" detective; holistic because he believes everything in the universe to be interconnected. And indeed, he has a seemingly preternatural ability. The feel of the show is like from one of the more strange comic-books from the 80s came to life. The story is loosely based on the writings of the great Douglas Adams.

19:45 (IST)09 May 2020
iZombie: Netflix

If only the zombies in The Walking Dead knew they would not lose their wits if they had a ready supply of human brains. At least that is the premise if this show, which is equal parts horrifying and funny (uproariously so). If you liked zombie comedies like Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland, you can't go wrong with this one.

19:22 (IST)09 May 2020
Outlander: Netflix

This Starz series tells us that love-stories do not simply just exist, they are often improbable. The central love-story in this show is between a 20th-century Englishwoman and an 18th-century Scottish man. Claire is transported back in time and meets a Scottish young man she falls in love with. She does have a husband in her time and she is faithful, but there is no way to get to him. Outlander streams on Netflix.

18:00 (IST)09 May 2020
Rick and Morty: Netflix

The animated series follows a mad but brilliant scientist Rick Sanchez and his naive, impressionable grandson Morty Smith's adventures across faraway galaxies, planets, parallel worlds, different realities and so on. Rick and Morty boasts some of the most intelligent writing in the medium currently, with jokes that are easy to miss if the attention wavers even a little. And before you have managed to wrap your head around it, the show has already moved ahead.

17:07 (IST)09 May 2020
The Man in the High Castle: Amazon Prime Video

Based on an intriguing what-if premise, The Man in the High Castle is an alternate reality show. In this world, the Axis powers won and the United States was carved up between Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany. Common Americans live under two foreign, oppressive regimes and they are resigned to their fate... until the people come across another reality -- our reality -- according to which things could be better.

16:43 (IST)09 May 2020
Lore: Amazon Prime Video

An Amazon Original, Lore is based on a podcast of the same name. Every episode of the show tells the origins of a horror story and although it is more of a documentary than drama, it is a slickly produced show that is engaging enough for a binge. You might want to check out the podcast as well. It is sublime.

16:15 (IST)09 May 2020
American Gods: Amazon Prime Video

A dazzlingly beautiful and bloody Neil Gaiman adaptation, American Gods has Bryan Fuller's distinctive touches that help make gore look beautiful. It is not just all visual, however, as American Gods nicely elaborates upon the eternal war between tradition and modernity without straying too far from its solid source material. Stream it on Amazon Prime Video.

15:45 (IST)09 May 2020
A Series of Unfortunate Events: Netflix

This show is based on the children book series of the same name and follows two young siblings as they try to protect themselves and their fortune from the devilish Count Olaf (played with a menacing glee by the inimitable Neil Patrick Harris). The series is the right mix of horror and comedy and you scarcely mind the improbability of the events unfolding before you, since it is incredibly entertaining.

15:17 (IST)09 May 2020
Alia Bhatt movies

Here is a guide to Alia Bhatt movies on streaming services.

14:47 (IST)09 May 2020
Supernatural: Amazon Prime Video

There is nothing like watching an atmospheric horror show. Supernatural is not one however, but is does have plenty of scares coupled with excellent characters (you could not ask for more developed characters than Winchester brothers) which makes it a solid TV show even if it is a sort of guilty pleasure.

14:19 (IST)09 May 2020
Duck Tales: Disney+ Hotstar

Relive your childhood and follow the adventures of ultra-rich Scrooge McDuck, and his three grandnephews Huey, Dewey and Louie in the classic series.

13:41 (IST)09 May 2020
The Mandalorian: Disney+ Hotstar

Jon Favreau creation The Mandalorian is the first-ever live-action Star Wars series. It is about an ace bounty hunter, who due to recession in the wake of Galactic Empire’s obliteration, takes up a near-impossible job from a well-paying client.

13:14 (IST)09 May 2020
Extraction: Netflix

In this Sam Hargrave directorial, Chris Hemsworth’s character Tyler Rake, a mercenary, is recruited by another mercenary Nik Khan (Golshifteh Farahani) to rescue the son (Rudhraksh Jaiswal) of an imprisoned crime lord (Pankaj Tripathi). Randeep Hooda, Priyanshu Painyuli and David Harbour also star.

While the plot and characters are thin, Extraction is all the same a gripping piece of entertainment.

Based on the books “Who Was?”, the cast for this show is integrated by teen actors that take us to different time frames to get a close look to the biggest personalities in history, such as Marie Antoniette, Galileo, Marco Polo and Marie Curie, among others.

11:16 (IST)09 May 2020
2 States: Disney Plus Hotstar

In India, marriages are not the union of two people, but two families. Krish (Arjun Kapoor), a Punjabi boy and Ananya (Alia Bhatt), a South Indian girl, fall in love with each other. After graduating from IIM, the two decide to get married and arrange a meeting for their parents. The difference in their culture makes it difficult for the parents to adjust with each other and thus begins all the drama.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

The quintessential adventure movies, it is hard to choose one among these Indiana Jones movies, though I would probably rate the original as the best. A poll from a couple of years ago deemed Harrison Ford's fictional archaeology professor the most popular movie character, beating out Batman and his own Han Solo. It is easy to see why. Indiana Jones lives the life many dream of. There is nothing remotely dull in his life, it appears, as he fights the Nazis, cult leaders and all manner of scum of society... and comes out of the fray alive and still pining for more adventure.

21:44 (IST)08 May 2020
The Departed: Netflix

Another Martin Scorsese directorial, The Departed featured a glittering cast with names like Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, and Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Ray Winstone, Vera Farmiga, and Alec Baldwin. Set in Boston, it was about a Irish crime lord (Nicholson) who sends Damon's character as a mole in the state police. The police likewise send state trooper (DiCaprio) undercover to infiltrate the crime lord's crew.

21:24 (IST)08 May 2020
Goodfellas: Netflix

This Martin Scorsese directorial is about the rise and fall of mobster Henry Hill (a real figure) and stars Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta. The film is easily one of the best Scorsese film -- it is that good -- if not the best.

21:08 (IST)08 May 2020
Zombieland: Netflix

This Ruben Fleischer directorial was about a group of four survivors (Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin) who find themselves in a world full of zombies wanting to eat them. Although the premise was dark and there was a lot of gore, the film itself was light in tone and humorous. Initially distrustful of each other, they begin to trust each other in the end.

20:34 (IST)08 May 2020
The Cabin in the Woods: Netflix

Helmed by Drew Goddard and co-written by him and Joss Whedon, The Cabin in the Woods is a subversive horror film that takes the hackneyed remote forest cabin premise of so many horror films and turns it on its head. The result is a smartly written and acted movie. Chris Hemsworth plays the role of Curt Vaughan, who is one of the college students who go on a vacation to that forest cabin.

20:09 (IST)08 May 2020
Shaun of the Dead: Netflix

Zombie comedies are hard to pull off. There is hardly anything hilarious about walking dead people walking and making a meal out of the living. But in Edgar Wright’s hands, it seems effortless. Keep in mind, though, the movie, starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, still has a lot of gore and horror.

19:41 (IST)08 May 2020
The Mummy: Amazon Prime Video

Despite its mixed critical reviews, The Mummy (1999) is simply one of the best adventure movies ever made. Brendan Fraser's Rick O'Connell is an American adventurer who accidentally awakens a cursed high priest Imhotep from the era of Seti I, a pharaoh that ruled Egypt around 3300 years ago. The special effects handled by Industrial Light & Magic still hold up superbly.

18:55 (IST)08 May 2020
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl: Disney+ Hotstar

Equal parts swashbuckling piracy adventure and fantasy, Pirates of the Caribbean, or at least the first two films, is wholesome entertainment for the whole family.

18:37 (IST)08 May 2020
Hush: Netflix

A relentlessly paced film in which a deaf and dumb author living in a remote spot has to fight a psychopathic killer. The lead actress (Kate Siegel) does a superb job in portraying the agony of a woman who has to survive alone without her two senses. She cannot hear him coming and she cannot scream for help. The director Mike Flanagan fully utilises the intriguing premise.

18:04 (IST)08 May 2020
The Prestige: Amazon Prime Video

Christopher Nolan’s last film before he became a global household name with Batman Begins, The Prestige stars two of the best ‘star’ actors Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman. It is about two competing late 19th century London whose rivalry ends in the greatest trick of them all.

17:38 (IST)08 May 2020
Shutter Island: Netflix and Amazon Prime Video

Martin Scorsese's adaptation of Dennis Lehane's novel of the same name is about two US Marshals played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo arriving on an island that houses a facility for criminally insane to investigate a disappearance of an inmate. The film is noted for its thwack of an ending that changes the way the viewer looks at the whole story, but it is otherwise a well-made film as well with stunning cinematography, performances, background score, writing and, of course, direction.

17:16 (IST)08 May 2020
The Goldfinch: Amazon Prime Video

Adapted from Donna Tartt's Pulitzer-winning novel, The Goldfinch is about a young man Theodore Decker (Ansel Elgort) whose mother died in a museum bombing when he was 13 years old. The event changed his life and he became grief and guilt-ridden. He has only one tangible piece of hope in his life -- a painting of a goldfinch.

a young man named Theodore Decker whose life is transformed after his mother dies in a terrorist bombing at a museum. Following this event, an older man convinces him to take a famous painting called The Goldfinch from the museum. Oakes Fegley, Aneurin Barnard, Finn Wolfhard, Sarah Paulson, Luke Wilson, Jeffrey Wright, and Nicole Kidman appear in the film in supporting roles.
