Since its delayed onset over Kerala, progress of monsoon has remained sluggish. As of June 17, the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) has crossed the southern parts of Karnataka and some areas in the northeastern parts of the country.

Cyclone Vayu was to hit the Gujarat coast on June 13 morning, but it recurved on the night of June 12 and skirted the Gir, Somnath, Porbandar. It is currently moving away from the Gujarat coast, but it will recurve again from Sunday.
The intensity of Cyclone Vayu is likely to get reduced, Rajeevan said, adding that it may hit the coast as a cyclonic storm or a deep depression.
