
PUNE, April 16: The jubilant lot of Bhatia cheerleaders who waited patiently at the Commissioner8217;s office on the fourth floor of the PMC building for a tete-a-tete with the newly reinstated Pune Municipal Commissioner were finally introduced to him by former bureaucrat Avinash Dharmadhikari on Thursday.
In a brief meeting, Dharmadhikari introduced the members of People8217;s Action Committee including Gita Vir, Smruti Ghatpande, Vidya Bal, Ravindra Malwadkar and others. Bhatia, in a lighter vein, quipped about his nervousness when people recounted how they had met earlier. quot;I often wonder are they going to ask me whether I8217;ve done their work or not,quot; he joked.
Bhatia who promised to meet them later in the evening however failed to turn up as he left the PMC at 3 p.m. The delegation of the People8217;s Action Committee had waited for over an hour to submit a memorandum to Bhatia.The memorandum was finally submitted to the Commissioner8217;s office. quot;We are confident that you will provide a transparent, clean and public-oriented administration and help in improving the standard of living of Puneitesquot;. The memorandum signed by Vidya Bal, Sandeep Khardekar, Ajit Abhyankar, Ravi Ghate, Gita Vir and others promised to support such decisions taken by the administration which would provide better amenities to the citizens.
