Mohun Bagan finished the first round of the I-League with a lone-goal victory over Mahindra United at the Salt Lake Stadium here today.

This win took Bagan to the fourth spot with 14 points from nine matches so far. The Mumbai outfit are on 11 points, and are currently stuck in the fifth position.

Jose Ramirez Barreto once again struck the winner, in the 66th minute, taking his own tally to four in the League so far.

It was Sandip Nandy, Mahindra8217;s India international custodian who stood like a rock to rescue his side on a couple of occasions.

But Barreto8217;s header off a James Singh floater found the target to spoil all that.
