
VADODARA, March 29: National general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party BJP Sumitra Mahajan has said that vacant seats in Boards and Corporations in Gujarat would be filled in due course of time.
Addressing reporters on Monday, Mahajan, also in-charge of Gujarat, however, did not give a time frame for appointments. She was replying to a question on how the BJP rule in the State could be considered well despite the fact that several vital posts were lying vacant even after one year.
On the newly introduced insurance scheme for rape victims, Mahajan said one should not go by the name rape victim. 8220;The scheme does not mean that a certain amount would be paid to the rape victim. Nor it is a price for rape. The amount is for the disability resulting thereof and, physical and mental trauma,8221; she said, adding the scheme would also help women who want to fight divorce cases. About the women8217;s reservation bill, she said the BJP was for passing the bill, but it all depended on Congress support.
On the Madhya Pradesh attitude on the Sardar Sarovar Project, Mahajan, also a member of Parliament from MP said that the problem can be sorted out by talks among the beneficiary states.
About the peace process between India and Pakistan, she said only friendly gestures can bring two countries closer.
The Pokhran tests have brought back confidence among the masses, she said, claiming that the BJP-led Government at the Centre had completed one year by carrying out good work despite opposition. In Gujarat, too, the party has fared well, she stated.
She said solving the Cauvery issue was one of the achievements of the Centre. She was in the city in connection with the Party8217;s Sankalp rally in Ahmedabad on April 9.
About the rally coinciding with the party8217;s foundation day and, completion of one year term at the Centre and Gujarat, State party women8217;s wing chief Maya Kodnani said the Prime Minister, Home Minister L K Advani, Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel and State party chief Rajendrasinh Rana will address the rally.
