
•India achieved their second overseas victory under Anil Kumble when they won the second Test on Sunday. This was Kumble’s fourth Test win in 11 matches as captain.
• It was India’s 11th victory in 28 Tests against Sri Lanka and third in 14 Tests in Sri Lanka.
• It was India’s 31st away win in 207 Tests, and 95th overall in 420 matches.
• India have 5 overseas win each in England and Australia, 4 in New Zealand, West Indies and Bangladesh, 3 in Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, 2 in Pakistan and 1 in South Africa.
• Muttiah Muralitharan became the first bowler to take 750 wickets in Test cricket when he had Sourav Ganguly stumped.
• Harbhajan Singh’s 10 for 153 are the best Test bowling figures by an Indian against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. It was also Harbhajan’s first five wicket haul in a Test away from home.
• Sri Lanka’s score of 136 was their lowest ever against India at home. Their previous lowest was 198 at Kandy in 1985-86.
• Anil Kumble claimed his 34th caught and bowled victim by dismissing Muralitharan to set a new record.
