It was on the complaint of a rival guru that the CBI and ED registered cases against Baba Ramdev and his aide Balkishan.

After Shri Acharya Pramod Krishanam, head of Akhil Bhartiya Sant Samiti, sent a complaint to the President in April, various cases of foreign exchange violation were registered against Ramdev and his aide. It was on the basis of the complaint filed by me to the President that all this action is being taken. We had submitted a detailed letter highlighting the financial discrepancies in his trust Patanjali Yog Peeth. Balkishan is a Nepali citizen and yet is an important member of Patanjali Yog Peeth. It was me who provided Nepal address of Balkishan to the CBI, said Krishanam.

The FIR registered by the CBI against Balkishan said a written representation dated April 29,2011 was made by Shri Acharya Pramod Krishanam8230; and addressed to the Honble President of India which was in turn forwarded by the PMO to the Department of Personnel and Training8230; The complainant8230; had made several allegations against Patanjali Yog Peeth,Divya Yog Mandir and Divya Pharmacy. The letter discloses that Balkishan despite being a Nepali citizen obtained an Indian passport by falsely declaring that he was an Indian.

The CBI had registered a case against Balkishan in June after a preliminary enquiry into allegation about his nationality made by Krishanam was found to be true.
