Universal Pictures’ Wicked 2, which made $522 million worldwide, didn’t get nominated for a single award. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo missed out on Best Actress and Best Actress in a Supporting Role, respectively, and the film didn’t get any nominations for visual effects, screenplay, score, or song.

Jessie Buckley, recognised for her role as Agnes in Hamnet, has earned her second Oscar nomination and her first in the Best Actress category. She was previously nominated for her supporting role in The Lost Daughter (2021).

She has also earned nominations for her supporting turns in Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014) and The Favourite (2018), and received a Best Picture nomination for Poor Things (2023).

The 2026 Oscars nominations announcement has begun. Actors Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman are announcing the nominations.
X user @bensond wrote, “Oscars nominations drop in an hour. It can either ruin my day or make it way better, no in between.”
User @vannjimenezz posted on X, "Maybe an unpopular opinion, but DiCaprio deserves the Oscar more than Chalamet." While Timothee Chalamet is expected to land a Best Actor nomination for his performance in Marty Supreme, Leonardo DiCaprio is also eyeing a nod in the same category for his turn in One Battle After Another.
Just one hour remains until the 2026 Oscars nominations are announced live on the Academy Awards’ official YouTube channel.
User @avi_nash_jha_ wrote on X, "Fingers crossed for #homebound to make it to #oscarnominations today #oscar."
Almost a month ago, when Homebound made it to the Best International Feature Film shortlist at the 98th Academy Awards, producer Karan Johar celebrated the milestone with a note of pride. Sharing the update, he wrote, “We made the shortlist. Way to go team Homebound.” The film was among the 15 titles that advanced to the Academy’s shortlisted lineup in the category.
According to Variety’s final Oscar predictions, Ryan Coogler’s vampire drama Sinners is forecast to make Academy Awards history with a staggering 15 nominations—a tally that would surpass the all-time record of 14, currently held by All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997), and La La Land (2016). The forecast also places Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another close behind with an expected 13 nominations.
There will be five nominees in every Oscar category, apart from Best Picture, which will field 10.
This year’s Oscars, scheduled to be held on March 15, will be hosted by television host and comedian Conan O’Brien for the second consecutive year.
Amanda Seyfried, who is expected to garner an Oscar nomination for The Testament of Ann Lee, said in an interview with The New Yorker, “Do you remember who won in the past ten years? Now, do I need one in a week or two or whenever? No, of course, I don't. Would it be great? Of course it would, for every reason – but it isn't necessary.”
Going by current awards-season chatter and prediction trends, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme, and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners are widely seen as the strongest contenders to lead the nominations, with momentum across key categories like Best Picture, directing, acting, and screenplay.
Fans of Indian cinema will be closely watching the announcement for the International Feature Film category. Among the 15 shortlisted titles is Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound. Starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, the film earned its spot on the shortlist from a pool of 86 submissions from around the world.
Other big names in the category are Kleber Mendonça Filho’s The Secret Agent (Brazil), Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value (Norway), Kaouther Ben Hania’s The Voice of Hind Rajab (Tunisia), and Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice (South Korea). Homebound is trying to make it onto the list of nominees with films that have been celebrated throughout this award show season
In India, the nominations announcement will be streamed on the Academy Awards' YouTube channel. The announcement is scheduled for 7 pm IST.
