BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar has reportedly earned the displeasure of the party leadership for his invitation to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to campaign in Bihar.
It is known that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is averse to the idea of Modi and Varun Gandhi campaigning in Bihar and this issue has been a bone of contention between the allies. Although the BJP has been insisting that it has the right to decide which of its leaders should campaign,it has consciously decided not to precipitate the crisis and shied away from categorically stating that Modi would participate in electioneering. In this context, there is a view that Kumar has overstepped this nuanced party line, which was taken after long deliberations. Top sources said the party had decided to maintain that it will decide who all should campaign in Bihar but would not either commit or rule out Modis presence till elections.
The JDU has already taken objection to his remarks with its senior leader Shivanand Tiwari questioning why the BJP was adamant on calling Modi for campaign. The days of one party rule is gone. Coalition is the rule of the day, he said.
