Ananth Kumar funeral HIGHLIGHTS: The mortal remains of Kumar were taken to Jagannath Bhavan, BJP state office at Malleshwaram, where arrangements were made for party workers and his followers to pay their last respects.
Ever since he won the seat for the BJP in 1996 for the first time, among the reasons Ananth Kumar never lost even when the BJP fared badly in the rest of Karnataka, was the astute politician’s ability to forge alliances across party lines.
"It’s when you lose a friend that you come to the realisation that as you travel through the journey of life, one is fortunate to come in contact with a few good people. People that make you feel that you are fortunate to have them in your life. Ananth Kumar was that for me."
Ananth Kumar passed away on Monday morning due to pancreatic cancer. Through the years, he has managed to be one of the men that found a place in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s cabinet in NDA-I to NDA-II under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
