
HISAR, Sept 7: National convener of Bajrang Dal Surender Jain has threatened to launch an agitation if cases, he termed them false, against 24 persons over a disputed religious site were not withdrawn. He said that, last Friday, the police had lathi charged a group of women while they were performing puja at a disputed site at Tibba Dana Sher, in which at least half-a-dozen persons, mostly women, were injured. Later, the police had registered cases against 24 of them and arrested six.
Jain , who was here in connection with 8220;Shastradharan Samaroh8221;of Bajrang Dal at Barwala, near here, visited the site today and made enquiries. He criticised the police inaction in the matter.
Earlier, many persons were injured when the police can charged a group of persons, mostly women, who had gathered to offer prayers at the disputed site. At this, angry crowds pulled down police tents and felled a wall of the disputed structure. Blaming the police for the incident, Vijay sharma, state secretary of the Vishav Hindu Parishad, has demanded a high-level probe into the matter and strict action. Kalawati, area councillor, also criticised the 8220;highhandedness8221; of the police.
