
Students of Jadavpur University8217;s engineering department tried to enter Apollo Gleneagles Hospital on Sunday after they came to know that their classmate Mayuk Ghosh, who had been admitted earlier this month, had died allegedly under questionable circumstances. A pandemonium was, however, averted by the timely intervention of police.
Phoolbagan police station OC Nimroz Khan said around 100 students had tried to enter the hospital at around 6 pm.
8220;They were agitated but we stopped them from entering the building. No arrests were made. Mrinalkanti Ghosh, father of the deceased, has lodged a complaint alleging negligence on the part of the hospital,8221; Khan said.
Mayuk 19, a first year student of civil engineering, had fallen off a running train on September 4. They added that his left hand had been amputated and he was recuperating with the support of a ventilator.
Ghosh said when he reached the hospital on Sunday morning, he found the ventilator was taken off. Shortly afterwards, Mayuk died. Apollo Hospital8217;s director of medical services Saibal Chakraborty said, 8220;We are looking into the matter seriously.8221;
