CR mega block today
All fast trains on the down line between Mulund and Kalyan will be diverted to the slow track due to block work being undertaken by the Central Railways on Sunday. Work will be carried out in two phases: Between Mulund and Diva from 9.40 am to 3.40 pm and between Diva and Kalyan from 9.40 am to 2.40 pm.
Rly summer plans
Central Railways will provide 900 additional berths everyday to clear the summer rush. Additional coaches will be attached to trains headed North between April end and July, a CR release said.
Bal Bhavan day
Jawahar Bal Bhavan is celebrating its 48th foundation day from 23rd to 24th February. There will be a Bal Mela for school children on both the days. Children can have a glimpse of My Mumbai 8212; past, present and future8217;. They can participate in the crafts mela 8212; potters wheel, instant portrait, flower making, mehandi, woodcarving, puppetry, block printing etc.
Varadaraja Award
This year8217;s Varadaraja Adya Award has been conferred on Dr Prahalad Mudgal and Venkatesh L Joshi. Constituted by the Karnataka Sangha, the annual award recognises the contribution of the recipients in 8220;promoting Kannadiga and Maharashtrian understanding and friendliness8221;. Mudgal has been conferred the award posthumously for his literary work while Joshi will get the award for his translations from Marathi to Kannada.
