MSU Commerce faculty dean retires

VADODARA, Dec 7: The administrative authorities of M S University have appointed Vice-Dean J K Syan as officiating dean of the Faculty of Commerce following Dean B S Patel8217;s retirement on Monday.

According to Patel, who had been the dean of the faculty for the last five years, it was high time that the administration took some stand on restricting the number of admissions in the faculty.

Patel said, 8220;If the authorities do not take a stand, the pressure to admit more students would only increase with every passing year8221;.

Patel opined that the only viable alternative that the university authorities had, to cater to the increasing strength, was opt for affiliation. 8220;If this university needs to maintain its standard of education, the authorities should stick to their words about the percentage criteria and not succumb to student unions8217; pressure,8221; he added.
