The Indian Army will go ahead with a joint anti-terror exercise with UK in Ladakh despite protests from Pakistan that the 25-day high altitude war game will not be a 8220;legitimate activity8221; because of the 8220;disputed status8221; of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan sent demarches to both India and Britain on the issues and summoned the country8217;s envoys to its foreign office on Tuesday to lodge a formal objection to the exercise. 8220;This is not a legitimate activity because Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognised disputed territory and more than anybody else the British should be aware of it,8221; Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said. While the Defence Ministry did not react to the protest, officials confirmed that the exercise would be held as per schedule. 8220;We are carrying out an activity on Indian soil and don8217;t need anyone8217;s permission for it,8221; an officer said.
