A Indo-Pak one-dayer is on the offing tomorrow, but what seems to have all in thrall is the question 8212;who will lead India in Tests. The top job was left vacant as Rahul Dravid gave it up one fine day and Sachin Tendulkar refused blatantly at the 11th hour.
And one could not just miss the relevance when today, Harbhajan Singh, standing infront of a smiling Dilip Vengsarkar portrait, admitted that he for one would never refuse an offer to lead India.
According to sources, the selectors have more or less decided to have one unified command for all formats of the game 8212; and that means Mahendra Singh Dhoni is likely to be given the Test captaincy. However, Anil Kumble remains a dark horse.
Harbhajan, however, iterated that India will focus entirely on the match tomorrow. 8220;It doesn8217;t matter who is made captain. The prime objective is to play well and win as many matches. So, instead of thinking about all these things, it8217;s better to focus on the job at hand.8221;
He admitted that in his short stint, Dhoni has proved to be a good skipper. 8220;Dhoni has been a good captain. He takes the youngsters in the team into confidence, consults them and also backs his players to the hilt. He knows how to get the results from the team and how to make the players give of their best.8221;And Sachin Tendulkar having a long animated conversation with Dhoni 8212; in all possibility they were just talking cricket 8212; sort of added meat to the speculations.
