
In view of the recent Mumbai terrorist attacks, the district administration has made elaborate security arrangements in Ambala.
The administration has deployed rapid action squads at public places, particularly those which are considered to be most sensitive. These teams comprise nine members.
The teams have started search drives at public places in Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment. Members of the team have received short-term NSG training, and their functioning is very different from that of the local police.
The team members have been given detailed feedback about the sensitive public spots in the city and the cantonment.
According to sources, close-circuit cameras have been installed at the railway platforms. There is a proposal to install such equipment at all the sensitive places.
The team has studied the conditions prevailing around the Army area in Ambala Cantonment. The entry of people in Army area under watch. The civil-army authorities coordination committee has also scrutinised the security measures.
The teams have established a rapport with the GRP and RPF to provide security cover at stations and in trains.
