
PATIALA, Oct 24: Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor Dr Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia has condoled the death of eminent Sikh scholar Dr Ram Singh.
In a statement here today, Ahluwalia said the Punjabi literature has suffered an irreparable loss with the death of Prof Ram Singh. He said his valuable writings have helped in guiding the Sikh panth.
It may be mentioned here that on the Punjabi University has decided to confer lifelong fellowship on Prof Ram Singh on October 26 during the Syndicate meeting.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement Sikh Intelligentsia Forum, Punjabi University, has also condoled the sad demise of Prof Ram Singh. The forum also held a special meeting to pay tributes to the departed soul under the chairmanship of Prof Dalbir Singh.
Among those who paid their tributes to Prof Ram Singh were Prof Dalbir Singh, Dr Harpal Singh Pannu, Prof Kulwant Singh Grewal, Dr Gurnek Singh, Dr Ajit Singh Bhatia, Dr Kulbir Singh, Prof Anoop Singh, Dr Malkiat Singh Saini and Prof Surinder Singh Khehra.
Prof Kulwant Singh Grewal appealed to the Punjabi University to come forward to publish the work of Prof Ram Singh so that it is preserved for generations to come. Dr Harpal Singh Pannu, touching the work done of Prof Ram Singh said that Prof Ram Singh had a good knowledge about Sikhism as well as the Gurbani.
