Mumbai cop gets RI for rape

Another day, another blot on the Mumbai police.

On Friday, the Mumbai Sessions Court found Anand Londhe8212;a suspended police constable with the Mahim police station8212;guilty of rape and kidnapping, and sentenced him to seven years rigorous imprisonment.

ASJ PV Bavkar also ordered the accused to compensate the victim with a sum of Rs 20,000 and pay fine of Rs 5,000 .

According to Public Prosecutor Jaysingh Bankar, Londhe and 16-year-old became friends during a religious festival 8216;8216;But Londhe took advantage when her mother, a help, went out for work.8221;
