On Friday, the Mumbai Sessions Court found Anand Londhe—a suspended police constable with the Mahim police station—guilty of rape and kidnapping, and sentenced him to seven years rigorous imprisonment.
ASJ PV Bavkar also ordered the accused to compensate the victim with a sum of Rs 20,000 and pay fine of Rs 5,000 .
According to Public Prosecutor Jaysingh Bankar, Londhe and 16-year-old became friends during a religious festival ‘‘But Londhe took advantage when her mother, a help, went out for work.”
