The tourism and hotel industry welcomed the Finance Minister8217;s indirect encouragement, but was disappointed with the lack of concrete benefits.

Ranjit Malkani, chairman 038; CEO, Kuoni Travel Group, India, said he appreciated tourism and civil aviation being declared priority sectors. 8216;8216;The decision to increase the FDI cap on civil aviation from 40 to 49 per cent is definitely a move in the right direction,8217;8217; Malkani said.
However, he added, 8216;8216;We were hoping the Budget would include a complete tax exemption for leave travel allowance and the rationalisation of taxes for the hospitality industry, as these two measures would have greatly enhanced domestic tourism.8217;8217;
Arup Sen, director, Cox 038; Kings, applauded the plans to invest in ports, roads and airports. 8216;8216;No new taxes is indeed good news for the industry,8217;8217; said Sen.
