
The Congress has said the Maharashtra Government is consulting the Advocate General over what action could be taken against MNS leader Raj Thackeray for his statements against North Indians. Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh arrived here on Wednesday evening to discuss the situation in the state with the party leadership.
8220;The Maharashtra Government is discussing with the Advocate General and the legal team whether Raj Thackeray can be booked for the provocative statements he has made and under what section he can be prosecuted,8221; AICC media cell chairperson M Veerappa Moily told reporters. 8220;I spoke to the Chief Minister about the situation. There was a minor incident yesterday, otherwise the situation was practically normal. Today, the situation was normal,8221; he said.
New Gujarat PCC chief soon
The Congress is set to replace Gujarat PCC chief Bharatsinh Solanki in the wake of the party8217;s debacle in the recent Assembly election. The names of Union Minister Narayan Rathwa, a tribal; former MP Rajubhai Parmar, a Dalit; and Congress8217; chief whip in the Lok Sabha Madhusudan Mistry were being considered for the post, party sources said.
