Denying claims that SAD(B) has appointed constituency in-charges in the state,Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said on Sunday those who were calling them constituency in-charges,were self-styled.
In our party history, there is no such provision of appointing constituency in-charges by the party, said Badal while speaking to the media during his Sangat Darshan programme in Jalandhar Cantt Assembly constituency. Badal said this when he was asked that while SAD claims to provide tickets to those who have contributed to the panth and the party, what was the contribution of two former DGPs Mohammad Izhar Alam and P S Gill who are being projected as party candidates from Malerkotla and Moga. He was also asked about Alams appointment as the Malerkotla constituency in-charge.
While Badal justified Gills case saying that his father was the SAD district president and he attained martyrdom at the hands of terrorists,he evaded a reply regarding Alam.
In spite of the claims of the CM,at party functions and events, these self-styled in-charges of constituencies have always been addressed as halqa in-charge (constituency in-charge) in the current regime. Party advertisements have also attached the same title to such leaders on countless occasions.
Asked about welcoming and presenting a Siropa to Satinderjit Singh Manta, who was booked in fraud and misappropriation cases,Badal claimed that if a case was registered against Manta, then law will take its course, but welcoming anyone in the party is a different thing.
