He has a steady girl friend and has always flaunted her unlike many in filmdom who like to hide their women. And yet Arshad Warsi is being labelled a casanova by the film press. But there is this old saying about no smoke without fire. So let’s go through the list that the industry tattlers have made about his link ups. Rani Mukherjee, Pooja Bhatt, Anjali Jathar and even Rekha. Now, either the Warsi boy has been doing things on the quiet or someone’s trying hard to give him this loverboy image.

Oh brother!

There have been some bhai bhai movies that were released recently. Of course they had heroes other than Govinda. But you know, personally, I think that any film that has a bhai in its title — whether a single bhai or a double bhai — should be given to none other than apna Govinda. Gawd! This man has so many brothers. Now that he has apparently patched up his differences with Jackie Shroff, he is his bhai. Anil Kapoor and he were bitter rivals when Deewana Mastana was being made. But with the D&M saga over, these actors are friends as well. But Chichi says since he and Sanjay Kapoor are friends, Anil is like his bada bhai. Then of course we cannot omit David Dhawan from the bhai list. He too is like an elder brother. Tired of reading this bhai business na? Just imagine, Govinda’s greed for brothers just goes on and on. Wonder if he is going to stop at actors. Or he may soon want to be bhai of the real Bhai — you know of the D-company.

Name sake

Whether Madhoo likes it or not, she is going to have to come out in the open about her relationship with Anand Shah. This time the raison d’etre is more simple: film magazines are always getting his surname wrong. Shah may be related to the famous Mafatlal family through his mother but nobody seems to care. All of them have gone on and on about this Mafatlal, who is actually a Shah.

Perhaps the reason she hasn’t bothered with a clarification is because Madhoo doesn’t think too highly of the industry. No one helps you, not even influential aunts like Hema Malini. After Phool Aur Kante, Ajay Devgan got and grabbed all the offers but Madhoo didn’t end up with much. Even Roja didn’t help her career, though she was simply brilliant in the Mani Ratnam film. Kuku Kohli who had made Phool Aur Kante had signed her once again, according to the grapevine, opposite Devgan. But within a few days she was replaced by Twinkle Khanna and was never informed by the unit. Did Ajay have a role to play in this, considering the fact that Twinkle and he share good professional vibes? Well, who knows? At least, we do not know — as yet.

Hot number

When the going gets good, it gets excellent. Look at Juhi Chawla. Even though two of her recent releases weren’t phenomenal hits, she is among the hotter numbers currently. She may be older than Madhuri by a couple of years, but she is certainly better off. Poor Madhuri is being written off as too old to be saleable, that is, until she gets a hit. But right now it is Juhi’s day. In spite of the possibility that the actress may be married to Jay Mehta, people are still lining up to sign her. The actress sure knows her worth.

But a particular manufacturer of bindis may not agree with Juhi. Apparently, the actress quoted Rs 35 lakh for doing an ad film. Now that really is a high price to pay, considering some heroines charge that much for an entire film!

New role?

Does Ajay Jadeja want to switch professions or what? Instead of making it to some really serious magazines and hanging out with influential people who can give him tips on his career, this cricketer is bitten by the filmi bug. Clearly he is glamour struck. You can see him with cheap starlets at pubs every time he is in Mumbai. But I couldn’t help reading his interview in the Stardust annual. This one wasn’t bad. But like we said, may be he is more interested in films, just like he has a weakness for filmi girls. While on this issue, Stardust has some interesting stuff. The `cats’ as they call themselves have managed to pull off a few coups.

Like Bal Thackeray and Madhuri Dixit face to face. Apparently, the Sainiks weren’t very happy with the actress earlier, for she wouldn’t agree to do any of their shows. Now of course it is a different story. The session between the politician and the actress was a big hit.
