Sameer Bhujbal’s whereabouts was the talking point at the SIT office on Monday when he failed to turn up for questioning for the second day.
If the huge media presence was any indication, Sameer was expected to present himself today. But nothing of that sort happened.
Photographers were in full attendance as they positioned themselves on vantage points leading to the SIT office since morning. Even an innocuous visitor was enough to trigger off their camera shutters.
However, the long wait ended in the evening when Sameer’s counsel Parvez Rustom in a letter to the SIT claimed that his client would return on January 19 and would co-operate with the authorities.
The letter also hinted that Sameer had already cut short his holiday in the US and that he would appear before the team depending upon the availability of airline tickets. However, unconfirmed reports claim the SIT is in no mood to wait till January 19 and they have asked him to be present latest by Thursday.
Sameer apparently has been in the US since December 5. He is part of a delegation of the Mumbai Educational Trust controlled by his uncle Chhagan Bhujbal.
Sameer is likely to be questioned on Bhujbal’s proximity to controversial multi-millionaire Antim Totla. SIT is likely to receive a report on some tests conducted on Totla by Friday afternoon.
