DEC 17: Ranji champions Mumbai would take part in a One-Day cricket tournament to be held at WACA grounds in Perth from March 29 to April 4, 2001.

The tournament will include current domestic champions from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and India.

The secretary of Mumbai Cricket Association MCA, Prof Ratnakar Shetty told PTI here on Sunday that his association was informed about the invitation by fax and the Indian cricket board BCCI had confirmed Mumbai8217;s participation to the Australian Cricket Board ACB.

The Western Warriors, Western Australia8217;s state cricket team are the Mercantile Mutual Cup champions for 1999-2000 while the winners of the South Africa8217;s Standard Bank Cup and New Zealand8217;s Shell Cup are yet to be decided.

This day-night tournament will be played as per ICC One-Day international rules with a white cricket ball and coloured clothes. This is the second time in one year that Mumbai team has been invited for a tour abroad.

A trip to Nairobi was cancelled by hosts Kenya Cricket Association KCA after Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar was not available for the tournament.

This time around too, he would be busy doing duty for his country against the touring Aussie cricketers who would be arriving here on February 7 to play three Test matches and five One-Dayers apart from three three-day games.

Proposed Itinerary:

March 29: South African champs vs New Zealand champs.

March 30: Western Warriors vs Mumbai.

March 31: South African champs vs Western Warriors.

April 1:South African champs vs Mumbai.

April 2: New Zealand champs vs Western Warriors.

April 3: Mumbai vs New Zealand champs.

April 4: Final.
