Azhar Mahmood slams century in drawn match

BLOEMFONTEIN: Pakistan8217;s two strike bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Fazl-e-Akbar had Free State in trouble at 21-3 in their second innings at Springbok yesterday before the tourists8217; skipper Aamir Sohail decided to call the match off as a draw. Most of the day belonged to 22-year-old allrounder Azhar Mahmood who followed up his first Test 136 with a fluent 111.

Brief scores: Free State 334-7 declared and 21-3 drw with Pakistan 441 Inzamam-ul-Haq 119, Azhar Mahmood 111, Yousuf Youhanna 54; Kosie Wenter 4-106.

Tufnell, Croft bundle out Guyana

GEORGETOWN: England came close to pulling off a surprise victory over Guyana in the three-day clash here after spinners Phil Tufnell 5-42 and Robert Croft 5-51 had bowled out the home side in their second innings for 131 but England finally had to settle for a draw.

Tufnell and Croft took all 10 of Guyana second innings wickets between them and the home side collapsed from 71 for no wicket.

Itleft England 15 overs to score 77 but called off their victory dash at 33 for three after ten overs yesterday.
