CHENNAI Oct 26: Miscreants had damaged a cement bust of Mahatma Gandhi, erected on the Gandhi Jayanti day at Pulianthope here, by breaking the plastic spectacles and shearing a portion of the left ear.

Police said the incident came to light last night following a complaint lodged by Dhandapani, a local CongressI functionary.

A special team led by Pulianthope inspector Subramaniam has been formed to nab the culprits.

Police managed to convince the irate residents from going ahead with their road block stir by assuring them that the culprits would be nabbed soon.
