Gajanan Sarpotdar dead

Brother of Charudutt and Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal president Vishwas Sarpotdar, Gajanan Sarpotdar8217;s father Nanasaheb was an established film-maker in his own right and a contemporary of Dadasaheb Phalke.

Gajanan Sarpotdar made his foray into the Marathi cine world sometime towards the end of the seventies and produced four films within a span of about twelve years.

Duniya Kari Salaam, Sasu Varchadh Jawai, Tujhya Vachuni Karmena, Dost Majha Mast were the four films which were produced by gajanan sarpotdar. Of these, he even directed the film Dost Majha Mast. Gajanan Sarpotdar was initiated into directing by the legendary film-maker and director late Bhalji Pendharkar.

Tujhya Vachuni Karmena, directed by Damu Kenkre, had won the state award.

Gajanan Sarpotdar also delved in the theatre world being associated with the Maharashtriya Kalopasak, a theatre organisation, from his student days.
