Draw puts Agnel in final

MUMBAI, June 17: Bombay Republicans B rallied to hold Fr Agnel Gymkhana 3-3 in the First Division Bombay Hockey Association League at Mahindra Stadium. But the effort was not enough, as Republicans needed a win to keep their hopes, of qualifying for the final, alive. The draw allowed Agnel to meet Greater Bombay Police in the final.

Today8217;s match was played at a furious pace. Tanveer Shaikh, Neil Pimenta and the impressive Cyril Bernard put Agnel 3-0 up, the game just 10 minutes old. Republicans gradually found their voice, and scored off penalty corners, in the 21st, 34th and 60th minutes, Ashad Khan 2 and A Palekar sharing the spoils.

Police lead the points table with 16 points from six, while Agnel 15 from 7, Rajput 14 from 7, and Republicans B 11 from 6 follow in that order.
