
Alert citizens nab robbers
Four people, who tried to burgle a shop, by removing the tiles of the roof, during the early hours of Thursday, were caught and handed over to the police, a case registered in the Sachin police station, by the shop-owner, Mangilal Vaktavarji Gujjar, said. According to the complainant, the accused, all residents of Pali village on the outskirts of the city, where noticed and caught by the neighbours when they were trying to enter the shop.

The Umra police, on Thursday, arrested a man for kidnapping, after one Thakore Bhagu Rathod, a resident of the Achhat Varg Colony, Adarshnagar approached them alleging that the accused had forced his 16-year-old daughter to elope with him on Wednesday.
Missing
One K C Chacko Kuppakump, a 70-year-old resident of 3/5 Gikonagar area of Bhatar Road, is missing since Tuesday evening, a case registered in the Umra police station said on Thursday. According to A K Tampi, Kuppakump, when last seen, was wearing a lungi and a pink T-shirt. As a mark of identification, the old man has white spots on his left arm, he added.
Dead
One Mahendra Chhotalal Patel 55, a resident of Shriram Colony, Dabholi died in the Surat General Hospital on Thursday morning, where he was admitted late on Wednesday evening. Patel was walking on Station Road near National Plaza, when he fell down on the street. He was then rushed to the Hospital, where he died.
Burns death
A mentally unstable woman, who tried to commit suicide at her home in Udyognagar, Udhna, died at around 9 am on Thursday in the New Civil Hospital. According to a case registered in the Udhna police station, Champa Balwant Patel set herself on fire at around 1 am and was rushed to the hospital, where she died.
PASA arrests
Harish Dahya Patel, Baljit Pannalal Maurya and Kedar Madhu Behra 8212; all residents of the city and areas on the outskirts 8212; were booked under provisions of the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act for bootlegging and sent to Junagadh, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar jails respectively.
