A day after she dropped state BJP chief Kalraj Mishra and senior leader Om Prakash Singh from the UP coordination panel, CM Mayawati today made an about-turn saying that the question doesn8217;t arise as its composition was yet to be firmed up.
8216;8216;The question of removing anybody from the panel is irrelevant as the committee8217;s composition has not yet been given a final shape,8217;8217; an official communique clarified. 8216;8216;There are no differences between the BJP and the BSP on the coordination committee issue. The right to nominate individuals in the committee rests with the partner,8217;8217; she said.
The committee will be finalised with the consent of all concerned parties, she was quoted as saying.
Mayawati said since the coordination committee had come into existence only yesterday, there was no logic behind the charge that she had deleted two names from it. The move follows protests by the BJP through Lalji Tandon. The BJP central leadership is also believed to have conveyed its resentment.
This is for the first time that the BJP has forced Mayawati on the defensive after the two parties joined hands to form a government in the state.
There were no whimpers from the party when she had first tried to take advantage of internal bickerings of the party earlier this month.
8216;8216;She needs our support more than us. She will have to behave properly if she wants to run the coalition,8217;8217; said a senior BJP functionary.
