MUMBAI, Dec 13: Half centuries by Jayprakash Jadhav and Maroof Khan helped Victory to score 203 for six in 50 overs against Bombay Gymkhana in the first-round of the Police Shield Invitational cricket tournament 70 overs each, sponsored by Jayantilal Khandwala amp; Sons and Khandwala Securities at the Bombay Gymkhana, today.

Brief scores 8211; Group A: Victory 203 for 6 in 50 overs Jayprakash Jadhav 56, Suhas Mayekar 31, Maroof Khan batting 65; Salil Shah 5-41 vs Bombay Gymkhana; MCA Colts 134 for 2 in 46 overs Amit Pagnis batting 58, Kiran Powar batting 53 vs Catholic Gymkhana.

Group B: Islam Gymkhana 149 for 7 in 47 overs Raja Adatrao 36, M Ibji batting 34; Hakim Khan 4-53 vs CCI; Parsee Gymkhana 177 for 4 in 49 overs S Mubarakai 52 vs Mumbai City Police.

Rajput XI prevail: Eight-strong Rajput XI put it across Young Challengers 2-1 in the BHA First Division hockey league tie at the Mahindra Stadium, today.Jude D8217;Souza gave Rajput the lead in the 33rd minute, while Vijay Ayare restored parity for Challengers in the 45 minute of the second-half. Gavin Vandrine clinched the issue for Rajput when he converted a stroke8217; in the 60th minute.

In Pool B of the Fourth Division, Coast Guard, a team from Daman, crushed IPCL, Nagothane, 4-0 after leading 1-0 at half-time. S M Rane 2, Shyam Sunder and Manish Thapa were the goal-getters. In the other Pool B Fourth Division tie, Glaxo failed to turn up for their match against Brothers Sports Club.

Easy for Rizvi: Rizvi trounced Joseph8217;s 5-1 in the HAM Fourth Division hockey league at the St Andrew8217;s ground, Bandra, today. Elick David 2, Savio Furtado 2 and Lawrence Noronha accounted for Rizvi and Dheeman Kadam reduced the margin for Joseph8217;s. Earlier Blazers pipped Dolours 1-0. The all-important goal was notched by Elavito Correia.

Joseph8217;s score: St Joseph8217;s Malad scored a comfortable 2-0 victory over St Stanislaus B in the boys under-14 Inter-School hockey league, sponsored by Thums-Up, at the Don Bosco ground, Matunga, today. Nimish Nair and Dheeman Kadam scored in that order for the winners.
