
MUMBAI, FEB 17: Ramachandra Patil Mumbai grabbed the first gold medal of the 14th Maharashtra State Police Games which opened at various venues today.
Patil claimed the 10,000 metres honours of the athletics competition at the Priyadarshini Park with a timing of 33 minutes 17.25 seconds followed by Manoj Tyagi Nagpur Range and NL Padmire.
Satish Raut men8217;s high jump and KN Butker women8217;s shot put made it a treble for the hosts as the team events got off on a more sombre note with the knock-out rounds.
In other action, Amravati Range trounced Thane City 17-1 in men8217;s hockey as Sanjay Bonde alone slammed nine, joined by Sudesh Yadav and Dilip Tiwadkar with three each at the Naigaum Police Headquarter Grounds.
