
The two-day International Anaesthesia and Critical Care Review 8212; 2008 IACCR-2008 concluded on Sunday. The conference was organised by the Department of Anaesthesia and Resuscitation in collaboration with Mayo Clinics, Rochester, USA.
Tikshan Sood, Minister of Medical Education and Research, had inaugurated the conference on Saturday.
Among those present at the inauguration ceremony were president of DMCH Managing Society, Sunil Kant Munjal, Secretary of DMCH Managing Society, Prem Gupta and Principal of DMCH, Dr Daljit Singh.
Tikshan Sood congratulated the efforts of organising committee and DMCH for holding the mega conference.
Professor and Head of Anaesthesia at DMCH, Dr Sunil Katyal welcomed the international and national faculty and other dignitaries. He apprised the audience about the latest achievements and progress made by the Department of Anaesthsia, DMCH, over the past few years.
The organizing secretary, Dr P.L. Gautam proposed a vote of thanks to the chief guest, dignitaries, guest speakers and all the delegates present on the occasion. The scientific sessions that were organised on the concluding day included Recent Advances in Surgery, Poster Presentation Session, and Pain and Critical Care.
In the session on 8220;Recent advances in surgery8221; lectures were delivered by Dr S.K. Malhotra, Dr R. Devine, and Dr Indu Sen on the topics concerning conflicts in operation theatre, minimally invasive surgery for colon cancer and issues in pediatric outpatients.
Dr N Dietz spoke on unconventional physiology in anaesthesia followed by Dr J Hammack and Dr P Sandroni elaborating on the topics of unusual headache syndromes and autonomic dysfunction. Dr Eric Bloomfield, Critical Care Anaesthesiologist, spoke on the management of patients with pacemakers and de-fibrillators. Dr John Abenstein from USA discussed on evaluation of anaesthesia equipment.
Dr L.N. Yaddanpuri, in his lecture on 8220;Cost effective analysis in intensive care8221; identified several issues that hamper cost-effectiveness analyses CEAs in the critically ill and suggested measures for cost containment.
