CHANDIGARH, DEC 19: The Punjab government today ordered a high level inquiry into the alleged molestation of his maid by Additional Director General of Police Security B P Tiwari, a charge denied by him.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal directed Director General of Police DGP Sarabjit Singh to depute an officer of the rank of Additional Director General of Police, who is senior to Tiwari, to inquire into the allegations levelled by the 19-year-old maid on Monday at a press conference here.

The DGP had on Monday ordered an inquiry by the SSP, Mohali, to look into the allegations though a formal complaint in this regard had not been filed.

The inquiry followed allegations by Mamata, her widowed mother, a human rights activist Navkiran Singh and Mamata8217;s so called maternal uncle Jagjit Singh Sandhu that Tiwari had been molesting her since December 11, when she came to his residence.

Tiwari denied all allegations yesterday saying that Sandhu had planted8217; the maid in his house to quot;blackmail8217; him.

Meanwhile, ADGP crime S V Singh has been asked by the Punjab Police Chief to enquire into Mamata8217;s allegations against Tiwari.
