
NEW DELHI, February 19: With the arrest of one man, the police claim to have busted a decade-old fake wrapper racket in the Capital. Duplicate cartons and wrappers of bulbs from leading manufacturers were being made in a West Delhi factory.
The factory at Matiala village was raided and the police claim to have recovered 1,40,000 bulb wrappers and 157 rolls used in the printing of these wrappers. DCP West Uday Sahay said that the fake wrappers were of leading companies like Philips, Sylvania Laxman, HMT, ECE, Surya and Bajaj.
The accused allegedly confessed to the police that the duplicate wrappers were supplied to traders in Sudershan Park, Basai Darapur and Moti Nagar. His business fetched him a monthly income between Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
