Chinese girls sent to embassy

AMRITSAR: The two Chinese girls,Jeng Jiali and Yang Lulu,who were rescued by Amritsar Police from the clutches of three Railway Protection Force (RPF) constables,were escorted to the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi on Tuesday. Police Commissioner Amritsar,PS Sidhu,said the Chinese officials appreciated the prompt action taken by Amritsar police in rescuing the girls.

Capt warns against Maoist activities

CHANDIGARH: PPCC President Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday called for strict vigil against Maoist activities in the state and said that Maoists had started spreading their network in Punjab and the sale of weapons to them was an ominous indication. In a statement,Amarinder welcomed the seizure of weapons with the arrest of arms dealers who were supplying weapons to Maoists.

RCF forms panel to probe assault on doc

Kapurthala: Two high-level fact finding committees have been formed by the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Administration to probe Tuesday’s assault on a senior doctor,Sandeep Mehta of Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital,by a group of staff councillors following allegations that the doctor had misbehaved with a female patient. RCF’s public relations officer Virender Kumar Vij said a case has been registered against those who were involved in the violence.
