After acting, directing and dabbling in theatre,Kunaal Roy Kapoor has a wicked stand-up comedy up his sleeve.

“Duniya mein pyaar jab barse,na jaane dil yeh kyun tarse,” a Saigal-esque voice would greet you if you happen to call Kunaal Roy Kapoor on his cell phone. On meeting the 32-year-old actor, who played the klutzy photographer Nitin in Delhi Belly, one finds out that he now plans to dabble in satire through his new stand-up comedy act,Nothing Like Anything. “I’ve done acting, directing, theatre and stand-up comedies,” he says, adding,“But my intention — in whatever I do — is always to have fun.”

With playwright and screen-writer Anuvab Pal,who wrote the comedy film Loins Of Punjab Presents and plays such as Chaos Theory,Kapoor plans to describe the changing India through his performances. “The days of our lives are so fast moving that we,some times, don’t remember to look around. There have been so many changes in the country since the advent of the new millennium — be it political, social or local,” he says. He wants to focus the audience’s attention on all those changes through his satire,in his trademark fun way.

With advertisement slogans that don’t make sense and political views that don’t even last as long as the ads,Kapoor has done it all in this performance. “We both wrote our own parts,Anuvab and I,and that’s how stand-up comedies work generally,” says Kapoor. “I used to do a bit of stand-up about five years ago,but took a break from it. But now, with Anuvab on board,we can rock it again,” he says with enthusiasm.

Nothing Like Anything will be staged on March 30 at The Stein Auditorium,India Habitat Centre,Delhi, and on March 31 at Epicentre,Sector 44,Gurgaon
