Patna, July 26: More than 18,000 policemen in Bihar returned to their posts tonight, calling off the three-day-old strike on an assurance from the state government that their demands would be sympathetically considered. The state government withdrew the dismissal of the Bihar police association (BPA) general secretary K K Jha and suspension of over 350 policemen who had joined the agitation.
Jha said the state government had assured that their demands would be considered in a meeting under the guidance of the state Chief secretary V S Dubey within 15 days. All members of the association, including police inspectors, sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors would join their duties with immediate effect, he added.
